1200 people visit new Portuguese luxury ship

"Good morning. Welcome aboard". It was with this phrase that, throughout the morning of this Saturday, October 8, the visits to World Traveller began, the new Portuguese luxury ship ordered by the entrepreneur Mário Ferreira and built in the shipyards of Viana do Castelo. In total, 1200 people have the opportunity to walk the corridors of the vessel which will make expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctic

The ship, which is 126 metres long, has 100 rooms and capacity for 200 passengers. It also includes several amenities. Among them: swimming pool, spa, cinema room with 182 seats, gym, bar and restaurants. It also has a doctor and a nurse on board at all times, with a total of 147 crew members. These explanations were given, this Saturday October 8, by the ship's crew to the 1200 people registered to visit the ship at the Cruise Terminal of the Port of Leixões.

Accompanied by her husband, son and daughter-in-law, Rosa Maria Paquete visited the World Traveller. At the end of the visit, the desire to leave "right away" was left. "I was just about to go. The ship is very beautiful. I liked the decoration and the colours", said the 65 year-old lady from Matosinhão, considering these experiences to be an added value.

"Not everyone has access to trips on these ships, but we can share that we already know and that they are beautiful", she said.

For Helena Duarte, the corridors of the World Traveller are not totally unknown. She is an employee in the interior finishing company that was involved in some of the work on the ship and got to know the ship when it was still under construction in the shipyards of Viana do Castelo. This Saturday, at the request of her son and nephews, she signed up for the tour.

"They were always asking to see the ship, but inside the shipyard they are not allowed to enter. I saw here the opportunity to bring them", said Helena Duarte, without hiding her "pride" at seeing her work reflected in the ship.

"It is fascinating to see everything from steel to a luxury ship," she said.

The World Traveller is the fourth ship in the fleet of Mystic Cruises, owned by Portuguese businessman Mário Ferreira. It was built by 80 Portuguese companies and the investment exceeded 90 million euros. "I have one more ship in an advanced stage of construction and that will be the fifth of this series," Mário Ferreira revealed, advancing that the liner should be in navigation in the summer of 2024. "These are the largest cruise ships built in Portugal and there was a lot of curiosity to see the inside of these ships," said the businessman.
