1st Visit of Moontosinhos

First visit of 2023 dedicated to Nasoni and Quinta dos Bispos, in Santa Cruz do Bispo

The Moontosinhos, cycle of nocturnal visits to the History, Heritage and Legends of Matosinhos returned to Matosinhos after an interruption due to the covid-19 pandemic.

These free heritage walks, guided by historian Joel Cleto, will be, in the 2023 edition, dedicated to the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the death of architect Nicolau Nasoni, who, in Matosinhos, is associated, among others, to the profound changes registered in the XVIII century in the Church of Bom Jesus de Matosinhos, but also to Quinta do Chantre, in Leça do Balio, or the portal of Quinta dos Bispos, in Santa Cruz do Bispo. It was precisely in this place that, last Thursday, the journey to Nicolau Nasoni in Matosinhos began.

In the first session of 2023, conducted, as usual, by historian Joel Cleto, dozens of participants, including the Councillor for Culture of the Matosinhos City Hall, Fernando Rocha, started the tour in the centre of the parish of Santa Cruz do Bispo, in Largo da Viscondessa, with an ascent to Monte de S. Brás.

It should be remembered that this cycle of nocturnal visits to the History, Heritage and Legends of Matosinhos began in 2013 and is held every month on nights when the moon is full. The visits to sites and monuments follow a theme and take place all over the municipality, in partnership with the Brotherhood/Torre dos Clérigos. The next visits of "Moontosinhos" will take place on the following dates, between 9:30 p.m. and midnight:

May 5 - Nasoni and the Quinta da Conceição

3rd June - Nasoni and the Church of Matosinhos

3rd July - Nasoni in S. Mamede de Infesta

1st August - Special Moontosinhos in the Church and Tower of Clérigos

The meeting point in each visit will be divulged in due time. Follow all the activity of "Moontosinhos" in https://www.facebook.com/moontosinhos or, for more information, send an e-mail to gmah@cm-matosinhos.pt
