The event is organised by Europe XXI and the European Parliament Office in Portugal, with two inclusive surfing sessions in the north of the country.
Matosinhos Beach will host the 2nd session of the Adapted Surfing Tour on Sunday 2 June. The first session of the event will take place the day before at Cabedelo beach in Viana do Castelo.
Both sessions start at 10am and are organised in collaboration with the Surf Clube de Viana and Surfing Life Club schools. The sessions are dedicated to associations that support people with disabilities and to the unidos.eu community as volunteers. There will be a total of 30 places for adapted surfing.
The event is part of the Europe XXI association's ‘21 for 24: Europe XXI's European Elections 2024 Campaign’, which includes various projects aimed at raising public awareness of the European project and calling for civic participation.
This is the third year running that adapted surfing sessions have been held, in an initiative that aims to give practical visibility to the fundamental values and principles of the European Union, such as non-discrimination, equality, solidarity, inclusion and unity.
With these actions, Europe XXI aims to strengthen the link between citizens and the European Union, but also to promote active and conscious involvement in building the future.
