The municipality of Porto is installing, in strategic locations, Variable Message Panels (PMV) to share road information with drivers
The action now arrives at Avenida da Associação Empresarial de Portugal (AEP) and “will imply the reduction of circulation routes at night”, indicates the municipality on the news portal.
With “the installation of a portico with large PMVs in one of the main and busiest accesses to the city of Porto, car traffic in the north-south direction will only be carried out in two lanes from 22:00 this Thursday, the 9th, and at 7 am the following day”.
The continuation of the works will condition the circulation during the same time period in the night of the 17th to the 18th of June. Temporary cuts on Avenida AEP will take place again on the 15th and 16th of July.
The Porto City Council states that “these traffic conditions will have temporary signs and the work will be monitored by elements of the PSP Traffic Division or the Municipal Police”.
The new Variable Message Panels, which are being placed in areas entering and leaving the city, in addition to informing citizens of possible restrictions on road traffic, “work in the sense of obtaining data for real-time measurement of road demand. of the city, but also to support traffic studies and monitoring of traffic conditions in these areas”.
“In some places, data will also be collected on the use of soft modes, namely the use of bicycles”, can also be read on the news portal.
