The ceremony included a tribute to the market's employees and operators.
On 3 June, the Angeiras Municipal Market celebrated its 20th anniversary at a ceremony organised by Matosinhos Town Hall.
The ceremony was attended by Luísa Salgueiro, the mayor, who paid tribute to a number of employees and operators who have been part of the market's history.
Open to the public since 2004, it has become a place to buy mainly fresh fish and seafood, but also fruit, vegetables, clothing and footwear, among others.
The top floor of the market is currently being adapted to house the Surf House, a hostel for local and foreign surfers, pilgrims and other visitors.
