Approved regulation of individual use cameras (bodycams) of the PSP and GNR

The Government approved in the Council of Ministers, the regulation of the rules of use of Portable Cameras for Individual Use (bodycams) by the security forces agents

The Law regulating the use and access by security forces and services and by the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection to video surveillance systems for capturing, recording and processing images and sound, came into force at the end of January 2022.

The regulation approved by the Council of Ministers provides for the use of portable cameras for individual use (CPUI), commonly referred to as bodycams, in the uniform or equipment of the security forces agents - Public Security Police and National Republican Guard - for the purpose of recording individual intervention in police action.

The Decree-Law provides the necessary regulation for the use of bodycams for individual use, namely regarding the rules of use and data conservation, ensuring their inviolability.

"The approval of this Decree-Law will guarantee conditions of transparency and safeguard the legitimate, proportional and adequate exercise of democratic authority by the security forces using this instrument, contributing to increase levels of confidence in the security forces," reads the press release from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
