One day after the restriction was lifted, bathing is once again inadvisable at Matosinhos beach, according to the Portuguese Environment Agency.
Last Friday, 2 August, it was announced that bathing would not be recommended until Sunday, due to microbiological contamination. It wasn't until Wednesday 7 August that the same advisory was lifted.
Yesterday, 8 August, after new tests, it was again advised against bathing.
According to the Douro and Leixões Maritime Police, the announcement made on Wednesday referred to tests carried out on Monday. Nevertheless, new analyses were carried out on Wednesday, which proved that the water still had microbiological contamination.
Since the start of the bathing season, this is the fourth time that bathing has been advised against at one of Porto's largest and most frequented beaches.
