Second edition of Matosinhos=Igualigual will focus on gender inequalities in sport
The second edition of the campaign to promote gender equality =Igualigual, launched by the Municipality of Matosinhos in 2020, was presented this morning at Marginal de Matosinhos.
Present at the session that was broadcast live on =Igualigual's Instagram were the President of the Municipal Assembly, Palmira Macedo, the vice-mayor and youth councilor, Carlos Mouta, the councilor for Sports, Vasco Pinho, as well as some associated personalities. to the campaign, among them, the boxer Nancy Moreira, a boxer, who brought a message about the importance of breaking prejudices and stereotypes associated with sports based on gender.
Ending dating violence and demystifying myths about gender differences are some of the messages conveyed by this campaign which, in this second edition, will focus on gender inequalities in sport.
The initiative will include several actions, including a visual arts contest (photography, video, drawing, among others) on gender inequalities in sport, which will take place between August 15th and October 9th.
Aimed at young people between the ages of 15 and 30 from the national territory and at sports clubs in the municipality of Matosinhos that, in a creative way, should reflect the good practices adopted in terms of promoting gender equality among the community of athletes, the contest aims to to foster, through art, the expression of the values of gender equality.
The campaign also aims, in general, to contribute to the transformation of inappropriate perspectives and behaviors that perpetuate unequal models in social roles, based on gender inequality and that lead to discrimination, social exclusion, victimization, abuse of power and even episodes of violence in relationships.
Schedule of the various phases of the initiative:
• 24th of July - campaign launch
• August 15 - opening of the contest
• September 1 - push subscriptions
• October 9 - closing of the contest
• October 24 - publication of the results of the contest (Municipal Day for Equality)
