Quinta de Santiago Museum opens its doors to creativity
300 students and users of social solidarity institutions are participating this week in the Carnival workshops "Mask Dances", which are taking place at the Quinta de Santiago Museum, in Leça da Palmeira.
The workshops are taking place at the Irene Vilar Space under the supervision of the Educational Services. Starting from a mold, the students will create their own mask, giving wings to their imagination and creativity. In designing the mask, they use decorative materials such as feathers, glitter, different types of paper, string, elastic, among others.
After creating their own masks, the participants head to the Quinta de Santiago Museum, the former home of the Santiago family in the 19th century, where they are welcomed by the character Conchita. The Santiago family's Spanish maid takes the participants to the Louis XVI ballroom, where they participate in a typical haute-bourgeoisie Masked Ball, showing off the masks they have created in the workshops.
Registration for the "Baile de Máscaras" Carnival workshops is sold out. In April, from the 3rd to the 6th, the Quinta de Santiago Museum will host the Easter Workshops "It was a very funny house". The Matosinhos City Hall will soon give more information about the workshops.
