Matosinhos announces strategy for Carbon Neutrality


The Councillor for the Environment of the Matosinhos City Hall, Manuela Álvares, participated, on March 16th , in a conference on sustainability in cities.

Promoted by the Order of Engineers of the Northern Region (OERN), the initiative brought together representatives of SmartEnergy, BCSD Portugal, Super Bock Group, Mystic Invest/DouroAzul, Serralves Foundation, the Municipalities of Porto and Matosinhos, Corticeira Amorim, Lipor, Metro do Porto and the University of Minho.

The objective was to debate the opportunity to adapt management and governance models, both in the public and private sectors, in order to increase the added value of the available resources.

The speakers shared the best practices of the entities they represent and the significant impact on the overall results towards carbon neutrality in the North region.

In the case of the Municipality of Matosinhos, Manuela Álvares addressed the role of local governments and the active participation of informed citizens in solving development and sustainability problems, highlighting the municipality's ongoing effort to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
