Diabetes screening promoted by MatosinhosHabit receives more than a hundred participants



In a partnership with the Associação Protetora dos Diabéticos de Portugal (APDP), MatosinhosHabit promoted the initiative “Living with Diabetes”, within the scope of the National Program for Healthy Neighborhoods, which was attended by 108 participants, among the residents of the Caixa Têxtil Housing Complexes. , Station and Orange trees. The initiative, in addition to allowing access to an early diagnosis of diabetes, raised awareness and informed citizens for greater care, thus preventing its onset and evolution. During screening, the disease risk assessment test was performed, with 37 participants manifesting a slight risk for diabetes. The population between 60 and 79 years was the one that most adhered to the screening with the presence of 63 participants. The female audience (61 participants) also showed greater expression in the initiative compared to the male audience (47 individuals). In total, 17 cases of individuals with diabetes were referred. In addition to focusing on diabetes prevention, the initiative aimed to improve the population's health, well-being and quality of life and to support health professionals (nurses) who deal with diabetes, namely through training with the foot. diabetic, foot care or covid-19 in senior age.
