The Portuguese Orchidophilia Association (A.P.O.) announces its 12th Orchid Show / International Orchid Sale in Porto on March 24th, 25th and 26th 2023, at Exponor - Feira Internacional do Porto
For the 12th year, A.P.O. is once again bringing exotic orchids from all corners of the world to the general public, both national and from several other countries such as Spain, in a unique opportunity to admire, in all their splendor, orchids in bloom.
Some of the best international orchid producers from continents such as Asia and South America will be present at the 12th International Orchid Show / Sale in Porto and will offer for sale some of their best specimens of orchids, in which they are renowned in cultivation, and other specimens of tropical plants.
The A.P.O. members will make available orchids from their private collections to be presented in the largest and best national exhibition of orchids in bloom, a rare opportunity to admire the beauty of these exotic plants in full bloom.
The International Orchid Show in Porto has already been to the Botanical Garden of Porto, Palacete Pinto Leite, Almeida Garrett Municipal Library Gallery, Gardens of the Crystal Palace and Edifício Transparente. This is the 7th year that the show will be held at Exponor - International Fair of Porto, a large space with all the conditions of accessibility, parking and comfort to receive the public visiting this prestigious national event.
The 12th Porto Orchid Show / International Orchid Sale will bring together, in over 4,500 m2, the best specimens of orchids brought by exhibitors and by private collectors
private collectors who, throughout the years, have lovingly cultivated an enormous variety of species and hybrids of orchids and that orchid lovers and the public in general can appreciate in a careful and diversified exhibition.
Organized by A.P.O., the Oporto International Orchid Show / Sale is the most important orchidophilia event in the Iberian Peninsula and aims to promote knowledge and interest in orchids in their most varied aspects.
As in previous editions, this year's edition counts on a large number of national and foreign exhibitors, as well as two days of lectures on subjects related to orchid cultivation. The stands with Tillandsias, Bromélias and Catos will continue to be present. As a novelty we have a stand with terrariums decorated with miniature orchids and with some terrariums also for sale.
"Another year and we are very excited to once again bring to Portugal the best and most well known producers and exhibitors of orchids in the world so that our visitors and the more knowledgeable orchidists can have access to a huge diversity of orchids, including species orchids, and thus enrich their private collections. This is a unique event that we love to organize in this magnificent city of Porto. We will have once again, during this whole weekend, lectures about several themes, from the cultivation of certain species of orchids to other themes related to their cultivation, given by our associates or by the exhibitors present in the show. In parallel we will have the orchids in bloom exhibition of our associates, an extraordinary opportunity to see rare orchids in their full bloom. In short, we will have many good reasons for you to visit us during these days at Exponor and we promise you a lively weekend, with lots of conversation about orchids and full of plants and flowers to brighten up your days", says Graziela Meister", president of A.P.O.
Continuing in the line of the rigor in the evaluation of the plants, we will have a panel of expert judges that will attribute the prizes according to a "Ribbon Judging - Best In Show" model.
The 12th Orchid Show will once again have an exhibition of children's drawings, the result of the challenge launched once more to the schools by A.P.O. so that the students develop drawings under the theme "Orchid".
The 12th Porto Orchid Show / International Orchid Sale may be visited on March 24, 25 and 26, from 10am to 7pm, at Exponor, in Leça da Palmeira, Matosinhos.
Admission costs 5.00 euros per person, and is free for all A.P.O. members with up-to-date membership fees. There is the possibility of purchasing 3-day tickets at a unit cost of € 10.00. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Ticketline - and are already on sale - or at Exponor's box office on the days of the exhibition.
