Festival “Matosinhos in jazz”

Jéssica Pina at Basilio Teles Garden

The bandstand of Jardim Basílio Teles received on Sunday another concert as part of the “Matosinhos em Jazz” Festival.

Jéssica Pina was the second performance at the Festival. Composer, instrumentalist and singer, she started her path in music, along with her instrument of choice: the trumpet. The path traveled so far, with a jazz background, led her to be invited by Madonna to join the international star's Madame X WorldTour tour. After the world experience, Jéssica Pina returned to Portugal and invested in her EP “Vento Novo”, composed of 4 tracks, where the artist takes a risk in the composition and texts sung by herself.

It is recalled that, in addition to music, the festival presents, until the end of this month, an exhibition of works created by several Portuguese artists from iconic covers in the world history of jazz. André Tentúgal, Clara Não, Joana Linda, João Fazenda and Vasco Gargalo form the range of artists who accepted the challenge of rethinking iconic album covers by artists such as Charles Mingue, Nina Simone, Ornette Coleman, Sonny Rollins, and Chet Baker.

The exhibition at Jardim Basílio Teles is open until July 31.

For the next weekend, “Matosinhos em Jazz” presents other proposals, this time from the United Kingdom. On the 16th of July, you will be able to attend the Alfa Mist concert, and on the 17th of July it will be Camilla George's turn to present us with her exhibition. Both concerts take place in the bandstand of Jardim Basílio Teles, at 18:00, and are free of charge.
