The Museum is located in a large room of the Humanitarian Association of Matosinhos and Leça da Palmeira (Volunteer Firefighters). It has been installed in the current building since 1973 and is one of the oldest museums in the municipality of Matosinhos. It has more than 800 pieces on display including firefighting material, salvage and decorations from the Humanitarian Association, all of which were used by the corporation or its elements in humanitarian action. The exhibition has two cores, the central core that exposes material used in the beginnings of the corporation. The other core concerns salvage from fires and shipwrecks, collected or donated.
