The beaches of Leça da Palmeira and Internacional will be the stage for the competition to crown the national surfing champion in the Under 12 category on 12 and 13 October.
The youngest surf athletes from all over the country will be competing for the title at the Under 12 National Surfing Championships, on 12 and 13 October, on the beaches of Internacional and Leça da Palmeira.
This will be the closing event of the 10th edition of the Porto&Matosinhos Wave Series, an initiative that began in April this year.
‘This is the event that recognises the athletes at the top level, acting as an incentive for them to continue training and perfecting their surfing each season. It's very satisfying to see how they grow and develop through surfing, both as athletes and as people, and this only motivates us to continue working with the younger ones. We're going to watch the hopes of national surfing with great pride and with the certainty that among them will be great names in surfing in the future,’ says Marcelo Martins, director of Onda Pura Surf Center and responsible for organising the Porto&Matosinhos Wave Series.
Regional circuit winners such as Levi Hummel, Zion Brocchi or Vasco Leitão will be under the spotlight, but local athletes Xavier Neves and Bernardo Neves, as well as Kélio ‘Xandinho’ Silva, are also ready to achieve a podium finish.
The Porto&Matosinhos Wave Series will close its 10th edition with this event.
