Local authority invests in combating climate change

Municipality supports international competition of ideas


Clean energy, clean industry, energy storage, efficiency, transport, water, agriculture, air and environment are the areas highlighted in the 2023 edition of ClimateLauchpad.

This is an international programme that, since 2014, seeks the best business ideas that are fighting climate change.

In Portugal, the world's cleantech competition is organised by UPTEC - Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, LIPOR and Fórum Oceano/Hub Azul, and is supported by the Matosinhos City Council.

Applications run until May 14 and can be made via the link https://climatelaunchpad.org/application-form/ The three winning projects of the national final will represent Portugal in the European final of ClimateLaunchpad on 14 July.

The national winners will also have access to free incubation at UPTEC for four months, training in the areas of impact, sustainability and/or marketing in the amount of 1000 euros provided by 3xP Global, 1000 euros training vouchers from Ordem dos Engenheiros - Região Norte, to 16 hours of consultancy provided by Point Green Venture and S317 Consulting, 15 hours of legal support from Vieira de Almeida, participation in an online course and a three-day intensive bootcamp with a certified EIT Climate-KIC trainer, access to pitch training and mentoring sessions with experts in environmental sustainability and circular economy.

Since 2014, almost 14,000 business ideas from 59 countries around the world have applied to ClimateLaunchpad. In Portugal, since 2016, the programme has received more than 130 Portuguese applications, supported more than 70 teams and more than 140 participants.
