MAR Shopping Matosinhos will offer, in the first days of July, the “last 800 free cinema tickets”, after, since April, it has been offering 200 daily tickets, in partnership with Cinemas NOS
The campaign, which aims to “encourage the public to return to cinema and enjoy the seventh art”, takes place on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th of July. Those interested in enjoying a free trip to the cinema must “present the Citizen Card or Identity Card at the ticket offices of the NOS cinema at MAR Shopping Matosinhos”.
“A maximum limit of 1 ticket per day, per person, and 10 tickets per group may be lifted. Tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, until the daily limit for the number of tickets available in each of the shopping centers is reached.
“Thor: Love and Thunder”, “Fortcress: Sniper’s Eye” and “American Siege” are some of the premieres that viewers will have the opportunity to see.
Data revealed by the Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual (ICA) show that, after successive increases in the first four months of the year, the gross revenue of Portuguese cinemas and the number of spectators fell again in May, the month in which 689,632 visitors were registered, 20% less than in April.
Compared to the same period in 2021, when the restrictions related to the coronavirus were still being felt, MAR Shopping Matosinhos states that “these results represent 113.1% more visitors in cinemas”.
Also according to the ICA, the films “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (269,389), “Top Gun: Maverick” (133,657), “The Lost City” (37,392), “The Bad Guys” (33,001) and “Sonic 2: O Filme” (32,575) were the ones that reached the highest number of spectators, in Portugal, during the month of May.
