Matosinhenses join the culture in the municipality

Activities of the Educational Service of the Culture area register participants from 3 to 80 years old

Nearly 500 participants, aged between 3 and 80 years old, took part in the various activities promoted by the Educational Services of the Culture area during the month of January.

From the workshops that accompany the project "Archaeology Goes to School", to the first "Child Brings Adult" of the year, passing through the pedagogical activities of the museums and exploration of the exhibitions on display at the Quinta de Santiago Museum, the Memory Museum and also at the Municipal Gallery, adding the first staged reading of the 19th Edition of the Camões Language Salvé or even the Birthday Parties "The Museum is older than me" and even the Dramatized Visits, there were many moments of culture shared with citizens in this first month of the year.

From January 16 to 20, within the scope of the "Archaeology Goes to School" project, six sessions were held for 146 students from the 1st cycle (2nd, 3rd and 4th years), about the latest Roman discoveries in Antela-Lavra, combining the curricular objectives of the subject of Environmental Study and the objectives of the Museum of Memory to provide the students with records of identity and the creation of affective ties with the local heritage.

Throughout the month, the Quinta de Santiago Museum, the Municipal Gallery and the Museum of Memory received several school groups in educational activities of exploration of the exhibitions, including "Composição de Outono", directed to the exhibition of António Carneiro and "Há Arte na Terra", directed to the exhibition Wind Lines. From pre-school to 1st cycle education, a total of 120 students were welcomed.

Also in January, there was no lack of dramatized visits to the Quinta de Santiago Museum, guided by the hands of the characters Maria das Dores and Conchita, to school groups and also senior citizens, with a total of 125 participants.

In this month of February, the Educational Services offer more activities: next weekend, at the Memory Museum with play-tours "Portraying Memories" and on Sunday for families, at the Quinta de Santiago Museum, with another Child Brings an Adult, entitled "Illustration of a Poem", the latter for children between 6 and 12 years old, free of charge, but with advance registration.

And because it is Carnival month, the typical workshops will not be missing, aimed at school groups or organized groups, which will take place from February 13 to 17 at the Quinta de Santiago Museum, this year under the theme "Masked Ball".
