Matosinhos hosted the 2nd annual meeting of the Atlântida project

Sustainable exploitation of marine resources was in the spotlight

The Leixões Cruise Terminal hosted this Monday, November 7th, the 2nd Annual Meeting of the Atlântida project.

This is a Research and Development project that brings together the efforts of three of the main higher education institutions in Northern Portugal (Universities of Porto, Minho and Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro) and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR).

Funded by NORTE2020, the Atlântida project aims to develop a platform for monitoring the North Atlantic Ocean and tools for the sustainable exploitation of marine resources.

Throughout the day, a group of researchers discussed the project's past and its future.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro, the Councillor for Economic Development, Tourism and Trade, Marta Pontes, and the Director of CIIMAR and the Head Researcher of the Atlântida Project, Vítor Vasconcelos.
