Matosinhos City Council will be renovating the municipality's playgrounds as part of a maintenance and intervention plan outlined by the council.

There will be a total of 36 playgrounds, some of which have already been serviced in terms of equipment maintenance and sanitisation. Aware of the safety needed in these public spaces, the City Council's maintenance and intervention plan went ahead in February in order to guarantee the quality and durability of the equipment.

Most of the work involved treating and replacing wood, painting, replacing damaged parts, washing equipment, removing moss, repairing drainage and even repairs due to vandalism.

The Florbela Espanca Playground includes wood treatment and painting, replacing plywood, rectifying anomalies in the impact surface, replacing damaged netting and washing equipment. The Quinta da Conceição and Carriçal children's playgrounds were also treated.

In addition to the parks that have already been worked on, the playgrounds at Av. Das Ribeiras, Farrapas, Mainça, Vila Lia, Eng. Fernando Pinto de Oliveira, Cohaemato, Agudela, Praia do Marreco, Estádio do Mar, Artur Napoleão, Cruz de Pau, 25 de Abril, Quinta da Lagoa, among others, are also part of the intervention plan defined by the City Council.
