Matosinhos promotes Industrial Tourism

Tourist promotion action at the Interactive Oporto Airport Store

The Municipality of Matosinhos has sought to diversify the tourism offer of the territory, investing in new tourism products.

Along with gastronomy, architecture and water sports, the municipality is now betting on Industrial Tourism, enhancing the historical and cultural heritage that the construction and development of the Port of Leixões generated in the industry, particularly the canning industry, and following the National Tourism Strategy 2027, approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 134/2017.

In Matosinhos, the institutional partners of Industrial Tourism - the canneries Ramirez, Portugal Norte and Pinhais, the Port Administration of Douro, Leixões and Viana do Castelo, with Titan, and Superbock with the Casa da Cerveja - participated, on World Tourism Day, last 27th September, in a tourism promotion action at the Interactive Shop of Francisco Sá Carneiro Port Airport.

Those who arrived by plane had the opportunity to taste different and original gastronomic proposals, based on canned food, but also to benefit from discount vouchers and visits to the various spaces.

As a curiosity, APDL exhibited an original rivet of the Titan with more than 100 years, a fundamental crane in the construction of the Port of Leixões.

In addition to this promotional action, the municipality provides, both in its institutional website ( https://www.cm-matosinhos.pt/conhecer/turismo-industrial ) and in Turismo de Matosinhos ( https://www.matosinhoswbf.pt/p/turismoindustrial ), a tab dedicated to Industrial Tourism with information for visits to Pinhais, Ramirez and Portugal Norte canneries, SuperBock Casa da Cerveja and the Titan in Leixões.
