The Matosinhos Bathing Rescue team received training in Urban Flood Search and Rescue, and is now able to intervene in river/waterside rescue operations and urban flooding in confined spaces
"With the opening of the Leça green corridor to the population, Matosinhos considered it essential to guarantee the capacity to respond to occurrences that may arise from the use of space. Accidents in riverside areas are common and often difficult to rescue due to the complexity of access and the type of specialized intervention," said the municipality.
To test the new functions, will be held on Friday, at 10 am, a drill to rescue a victim in the river Leça. The exercise will take place near the Bridge of the Car and will include the participation of other services of Civil Protection, the volunteer fire brigades of the municipality and the Municipal Police.
