Matosinhos City Council is going to support the municipality's secondary and vocational schools in submitting applications to set up Specialised Technology Centres (CTE) in Matosinhos.

Luísa Salgueiro, mayor of the municipality, and António Correia Pinto, councillor for Education, signed a protocol with the directors of the Padrão da Légua and Senhora da Hora school groups, and the Augusto Gomes and João Gonçalves Zarco secondary schools, allocating a sum of around 37,000 euros to set up the centres.

This amount will be used to hire consultants to carry out the procurement procedures inherent in implementing the ETCs.

In Matosinhos, the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) approved eight centres in three areas of technological specialisation: two ETCs in the industrial area (ES João Gonçalves Zarco and EP Alternância), five in the IT area (AE Senhora da Hora, ES Zarco, ES Augusto Gomes, EP Ruiz Costa and EPROMAT) and one in the renewable energy area (AE Padrão Légua). In total, this represents an investment of over 8 million euros, which will be used to modernise vocational education in the municipality.

What is a CTE?

A CTE is an institution dedicated to development, research and innovation, with appropriate and modern facilities, in a specific area of technology. This project aims to transform the learning environment with new physical spaces, adapted infrastructures and state-of-the-art technological equipment.
