In September, the "Me and My Retirement" project has open registrations for new free sessions dedicated to people over 55 who want to better manage their money and understand topics such as insurance, taxes or fighting fraud. In Matosinhos, this financial and digital training program is developed by the Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda Foundation, in partnership with the Municipality.
When rising inflation is a current issue, the effective control of income and expenses, in order to ensure savings, becomes even more important for families. To support older people with personal finance management strategies and to provide them with financial literacy skills, the Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda Foundation has launched new editions of the project "Me and My Retirement".
The program is free for all people over 55 who live in Matosinhos. Each enrolled participant has access to a set of Financial Literacy Workshops - online or face-to-face sessions that rely on entities such as the Bank of Portugal, the Portuguese Insurers Association or the Foundation itself to address topics such as the preparation of a family budget, digital means of payment, insurance or the rights and duties of the consumer.
The Laboratories have sessions of 1h30 to 2h00, held at different intervals throughout the week. Starting this month, Matosinhos will have two new editions, with registrations available at www.eueaminhareforma.pt or by phone 226 101 189 and e-mail eueaminhareforma@facm.pt:
September 19 to October 26: Monday and Wednesday, 10am - 11:30am; 11 sessions online;
September 23 to December 2: Friday, 10:00-11:30 am; 11 sessions online;
"Facing the challenging economic context we are going through, budget management is, more than ever, necessary to guide daily decisions. Therefore, this program was designed to provide tools to create a healthy relationship with money", explains Maria Amélia Cupertino de Miranda, President of Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda Foundation. "Furthermore, "Eu a Minha Reforma" contributes to active aging, not only because of the sharing it generates among participants, but also because it helps them prepare for old age with greater financial well-being. We are living a revolution in longevity and it will be, increasingly, indispensable to take care of these skills among the elderly," he adds.
Since 2020, more than 1400 participants have already integrated "Me and My Retirement", not only in Matosinhos, but also in the municipalities of Maia, Porto, Santo Tirso, Valongo and Vila Nova de Gaia. The project is co-financed by the Social Innovation Program, through the European Social Fund.
