The Ministry of Health launched this Sunday an awareness campaign for the correct use of health and emergency phone lines, with the aim of preventing the misuse of these means from compromising urgent care
In a joint statement, the Directorate General for Health (DGS), the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health (SPMS) and the National Medical Emergency Institute (INEM) announce the launch of the campaign "When to call SNS 24 or INEM?", to raise awareness for the correct use of the lines "808 24 24 24" and "112" by the citizen.
The three organizations stress that in situations such as "mild or moderate pain, fever, change in blood pressure, itching, persistent cough, persistent crying of the child, diarrhea or nausea, or other non-emergency situation", the number to call should be 808 24 24 24, which will provide "the appropriate advice".
In serious cases such as an accident with injuries, a suspected stroke, chest pain, choking, difficulty breathing, altered state of consciousness, severe burns or in sensitive areas, excessive or uncontrollable bleeding, the user should call 112 - the European Emergency Number.
