There are 771 new parking spaces that start to be paid for on Monday 1 July. The Matosinhos waterfront is one of the four streets covered by the measure.
The new parking spaces are located on Avenida General Norton de Matos, Rua de Manuel Dias da Fonseca, Avenida do Comendador Ferreira Matos and Rua de Mouzinho de Albuquerque.
In order to compensate the population and workers of Matosinhos, the municipality has opened a free car park in Parque Real, with capacity for 400 vehicles, according to Jornal de Notícias. The car park is open from 8h00 to 21h00.
The extension of the Limited Duration Car Parking Zone was approved by the municipal executive in February, and should have gone ahead in April.
