Nighttime visits to the Tower and guided walks celebrate Easter at Clérigos

The Irmandade dos Clérigos (Brotherhood of Clerics) started last Sunday its Holy Week celebrations with the exhibition of drawings "Purga", by Agostinho Santos, curated by Valter Hugo Mãe

The exhibition in question, he points out, exalts the "spiritual cleansing associated with Easter, in a purification linked to the cycle of death and resurrection" and can be visited until April 30th.

In parallel to the various initiatives scheduled for Porto, there are also events taking place in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, such as the exhibition of the estate of this iconic Portuguese monument. "The monumental architectural work of Nicolau Nasoni travels to Santiago de Compostela", present in the exhibition "Clérigos fora de Portas", will be on display at the Oporto and Northern Portugal Tourism Office.

Through this exhibition, it will be possible to "get to know the heritage of Clerics, including pieces of sacred art and drawings by Sónia Teles Silva and coinciding with the time when the city of Porto is invaded by "nuestros hermanos". "With traces of this architect, the drawings, made between 2015 and 2018, show the Clerics from another perspective," one reads.

Between March 31 and April 16, it will also be possible to once again enjoy the "Clérigos by Night" program, which allows a visit to the Torre dos Clérigos at night. "In half-hour slots, starting at 7pm, the night view is opened in the most imposing viewpoint of the city of Porto, from the banks of the Douro and this river to Foz," informs the Brotherhood, adding that the visits take place until 11pm.

Additionally, several cultural events are also scheduled to honor Nicolau Nasoni, the architect responsible for the Clérigos Complex, who died 250 years ago, such as several tours, guided by historian and archaeologist Joel Cleto.

The first tour is scheduled for April 8 and includes a bus tour with visits scheduled for Casa de Ramalde, Quinta de S. Gens, Quinta dos Bispos, Casa do Corim, the Church of Santiago de Bougado in Trofa and Quinta dos Cónegos.

All information about the program is available at the oficial page of Clérigos.
