As of this Friday, November 4, the North of Portugal and Galicia will be even more connected, through the sharing of "112 Cross Border", which will allow "fast and adequate medical assistance in urgent and emergency situations"
At stake is a pilot project that will start as soon as the protocol is signed between the National Institute of Medical Emergency of Portugal (INEM) and the health entity of Galicia. The moment is scheduled for this Friday, during the XXXIII Luso-Spanish Summit, taking place in Viana do Castelo.
According to information provided by the Minister for Territorial Cohesion, Ana Abrunhosa, the "112 Cross-border" will ensure "rapid and appropriate medical assistance in urgent and emergency situations, by the means that are closest, regardless of whether they are Portuguese or Spanish".
The service will also have "out-of-hospital assistance" available, which means that after receiving "emergency treatment", the patient will have the opportunity to choose the place "where they wish to continue their treatment".
It should be noted that the test will start operating in the border districts of North and Galicia, specifically in Viana do Castelo and Vila Real and Orense and Pontevedra.
