Nurses strike adherence over 75%.

The adhesion to the nurses' strike is above 75%, with some hospitals recording 100%, and the most affected services are scheduled surgeries and nursing consultations, according to the Portuguese Nurses' Union (SEP)



Speaking to the Lusa news agency, SEP president, José Carlos Martins, said that the first data received by the union structure indicates that the adhesion in the Dona Estefânia Hospital (Lisbon) is around 77.5%, in the Caldas da Rainha hospital reaches 94%, in Peniche 94% and in Alcobaça 100%.

According to the union leader, in Lisbon, in the Hospital de São José, the emergency services are at 100% and the operating room at 95%.

The most affected services, according to him, are the programmed activities such as surgeries, as well as nursing consultations. The minimum services are being ensured.

The strike notice provides for minimum services to be "provided in emergency situations," such as emergency rooms, intensive care, operating rooms, with the exception of scheduled surgeries, haemodialysis and oncology treatments.

Nurses met yesterday and today, two days of strike to claim the payment of backdated to January 2018 and the parity of their career with the graduates of the public administration.
