Three flags were hoisted today
Pedras do Corgo beach, in Lavra, was distinguished this year with the Blue Flag, the “Gold Quality Beach” flag and the “Accessible Beach, Beach for All” flag.
The flags were raised today in a ceremony that was attended by the mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro, the councilor for the environment, Manuela Álvares, and the president of the union of the parishes of Perafita, Lavra and Santa Cruz do Bispo, Lurdes Queirós.
Also present were the councilors for Culture, Fernando Rocha, and for Sport, Vasco Pinho.
13 beaches in the county were distinguished this year with the Blue Flag, a symbol of environmental quality awarded annually by the Blue Flag Association of Europe (ABAE).
Matosinhos is the third municipality in the country and the second in the north with the most blue flag beaches.
In addition to Pedras do Corgo beach, Angeiras Norte, Angeiras Sul, Funtão, Pedras Brancas, Agudela, Quebrada, Marreco, Memória, Cabo do Mundo, Aterro, Fuzelhas and Leça da Palmeira beaches were awarded.
14 beaches in the municipality of Matosinhos were distinguished with the flag "Beach with Golden Quality", an award given by Quercus - National Association for Nature Conservation that distinguishes the quality of bathing water.
In addition to Pedras do Corgo beach, Angeiras Norte, Angeiras Sul, Funtão, Pedras Brancas, Agudela, Quebrada, Marreco, Memória, Cabo do Mundo, Aterro, Fuzelhas, Boa Nova and Leça da Palmeira beaches were recognized.
The Pedras do Corgo beach was also distinguished as “Accessible Beach, Beach for All”, an award that certifies the beaches that meet the best conditions for citizens with reduced mobility and which is awarded by the National Institute for Rehabilitation, by the Portuguese Environment Agency. and by Turismo de Portugal.
The list also includes the beaches Angeiras Sul, Quebrada, Marreco, Cabo do Mundo, Aterro and Leça da Palmeira.
