A 53-strong team of Civil Protection, GNR and emergency medical personnel leaves for Turkey tomorrow, Wednesday, to support search and rescue efforts after yesterday's earthquake, which has already claimed more than 5,000 lives
"In the coming hours, a team of 53 elements composed of elements of the National Civil Protection Emergency Authority, elements of the UEPS (Emergency Protection and Rescue Unit) of the National Republican Guard and also elements of the medical emergency, will leave our country to join the European humanitarian efforts of civil protection and, very particularly in the case of Portuguese support, in the field of search and rescue," said the Minister of Internal Administration, José Luís Carneiro, after participating in a meeting with mayors of the Center region in Coimbra.
