Lord of Matosinhos 2023 is back from 19 May to 11 June
Aromaria do Senhor de Matosinhos 2023, which takes place this year from 19 May to 11 June, has been held for over 700 years and usually brings together around two million visitors, according to the municipality's calculations.
Among dozens of religious, recreational, cultural and sports initiatives scheduled, a concert by the artist Fernando Daniel on the evening of May 26, in the gardens of the Florbela Espanca Library, with free admission, stands out.
During the three weeks of festivities, besides the traditional tents with china, handicrafts, food, drinks and entertainment, the streets, with decorative illuminations, will be occupied by music bands, folk dance groups and ethnographic groups.
This year's programme includes the usual firework display on 27 May. The solemn procession takes place on Sunday 28th, starting at 4pm, at the Senhor do Padrão monument. And on Tuesday, May 30, municipal holiday, a solemn mass of the Bom Jesus de Matosinhos will be celebrated at 11 a.m. But there's more, much more... whose programme you can check below.
