Swiss has more flights from Porto

The Swiss airline, belonging to the Lufthansa Group, has increased the number of weekly connections from Porto to Switzerland: there are ten more to Zurich and four to Geneva

Another novelty announced this Monday, the 4th, is the morning flight that, since the beginning of this month, has been leaving Francisco Sá Carneiro airport four times a week, at 3 am, allowing passengers who land in Zurich to have access to to a wide network of connections to Europe and other continents.

The company provides, in total, six daily flights from Porto to Zurich and Geneva, which represents an increase of 70% compared to 2019. the biggest increase for Swiss in the central European market, ahead of destinations like Paris.

Thomas Ahlers, quoted by JN, said that, among other reasons, Portugal had “a stable political situation” and “being part of the European Union, but above all the fact that Porto is growing a lot in terms of visitors and, from a business point of view, there are many companies flying to and from Porto”.

The official also said that the company “is operating a record number of nine daily flights from the five Portuguese cities of Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Funchal and Ponta Delgada to Switzerland in summer time, which underlines the important significance of the Portuguese market. to Switzerland”.

According to JN, the councilor responsible for Tourism and Internationalization, Catarina Santos Cunha, revealed that the municipality is receiving “contacts from several companies” and that the Porto municipality will “actively work with some” to overcome the difficulties caused by the reduction of routes on the part of the national company.

“This is the path we are looking for”, she added, stressing that the reinforcement of Swiss flights “was the perfect match with the strategy” that the Porto Chamber is “trying to develop in relation to air connectivity”.
