The first week of the year 2023 will be marked by a shower of stars in Portugal
The phenomenon happens on the night of Tuesday, January 3, and can be easily seen "thanks to the forecasts of clear skies", according to Máximo Ferreira, director of the Centro Ciência Viva de Constância, in an interview with the newspaper Público.
The forecasts indicate that the meteors are "quite bright, and may exceed the brightness of Jupiter, which is the brightest star we can see with the naked eye.
The meteor shower can be observed during the early hours of the night, but will be particularly special if seen before dawn.
It should be noted that this is the first phenomenon of its kind in Portugal this year. The next star showers are scheduled to take place on May 4, July 28, August 11, October 21 and December 13.
