Centro de Desportos e Congressos received the 2nd edition developed from the chess classes available in schools in the county
The Municipality of Matosinhos held on June 19, 2022, at the Centro de Desportos e Congressos, the II Chess Tournament, which was attended by about 130 students, from the 1st Cycle of Basic Education, from 1st to 4th year of schooling in the Municipality. The first edition of the Tournament of the modality took place in the academic year 2018/2019, within the scope of the Extracurricular Activity (AEC) made available to Matosinhos students, the Chess Workshop, having now been resumed after a two-year break, due to the Pandemic. Covid-19.
The initiation to the game of chess provides access to this sport, while stimulating the development of concentration skills, logical-mathematical reasoning, mental calculation, strategy, memory and decision-making.
Preparation for these tests was done in AEC Chess classes and culminated in this inclusive tournament involving students who excelled in the practice of the modality. The three best classified in each level were awarded and medals were awarded to students with Special Health Needs. A certificate of participation was given to all students.
