António Sousa Pereira, dean of the University of Porto, guarantees that the public tender for the construction of the 50-hectare university centre in Matosinhos will be launched soon.
A technological and research centre for the University of Porto is closer to being born in the former Petrogal refinery in Matosinhos.
The rector of the University of Porto, António Sousa Pereira, said that the project is at an advanced stage and that the public tender for the construction of the technology centre building will be launched soon.
The space will be dedicated to science and engineering and will be built on the 50-hectare refinery site, in an area that flanks the Galp structure on the opposite side of Rua Belchior Robles.
The dismantling of the refinery is still underway, after the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) presented evidence of soil and groundwater contamination in the area.
