Matosinhos obtained a rating of 99.95% in the “safe water” indicator, which assesses the safety of the water that reaches the taps of over 175 thousand consumers, supplied by INDAQUA Matosinhos.
The Matosinhos supply network, managed by INDAQUA Matosinhos, was awarded the Seal of exemplary quality of water for human consumption.
The distinction was awarded by the Water and Services Regulatory Authority (ERSAR), which revealed that in the municipality, the “safe water” indicator reached 99.95% and the national average reached 98.77%, in data relating to 2023.
Matosinhos obtained a rating of 99.95% in the indicator that assesses the safety of water that reaches consumers' taps through the supply network. The report also recalls that, in this municipality, INDAQUA Matosinhos distributes 32 thousand m3 of water per day, reaching more than 175 thousand people.
Based on the results of the report, ERSAR also distinguished INDAQUA Matosinhos with the Seal of exemplary quality of water for human consumption, awarded to companies with the best performance in this area. The award was presented during the National Water Supply Seminar, held in Tomar.
“Network monitoring requires a complex operation, involving thousands of analyses per year. Dozens of quality parameters are assessed by independent laboratories to ensure consumer safety and also achieve these good results now announced , ” says Tiago Fragata, General Director of INDAQUA Matosinhos.
The report “Control of the quality of water for human consumption” presents, at a national level, the performance and compliance of the analyses required of each supply company.
Regarding mainland Portugal, the report shows an average safe water level of 98.77%, which, for ERSAR, confirms “the consolidation of the level of excellence in the quality of water supplied to Portuguese people at the tap”. Since 2015, this indicator has been around 99%.
